A small video of new gameplay

All obvious bugs has been ironed out and it seems there might not be too many unknown ones, the game plays well and I’m starting to be quite satisfied with the engine itself.

I have reorganized the mountains-level and even if it isn’t finished, it’s already better. I will most probably tweak that level when the dungeons, at least the two first, are finished as in the mountains you can, with different difficulties, unlocks 4 shop keepers.

I also started to work on the first dungeon (after the tutorial dungeons, which are about ready), the fire dungeon. Got to find a better name for that one!

And finally, I now have some better looking trees.

Check out some small game play, and of course the trees!

OBS!! The quality of the video is rather bad, I have added a screen below for comparison…

This is how the game look in action (not deteriorated by the video, but still resampled, click to see full image):

The BETA is Out!

Beta Party!

Finally, I have pushed the last Alpha bug into oblivion, erased that Alpha-features filter in Mantis (my bug tracker) and made a new one that says “Beta only”!

Well, I included “Extra features” too, so that I can have Some fun eh

But here it is, a Family of Grave Diggers Beta 0.1 with functioning shopkeepers, the Forbidden Forest tower defence running, all the dungeons in place (but without much content though, well that is what a beta is for!), better help interface and a bunch of other things!

Now I just have to fix that ugly ugly tree…

Good news, Bad news

What do you want me to start with?

Kickstarter isn’t working as expected.
There are several reasons for that, one is that I haven’t been able to take care of it (family sick, ridiculous heatwave,…) and it just didn’t start off correctly.

So I’m shutting it down.

To relaunch it in the autumn!

Why would it work better then? Well, people are not on holidays any more for starters, I’ll be there 24h/24 seven days a week and most important: I got myself a Marketing Guru who is helping me out with it all!

More to come for sure…

About the game, I have had some really nice hardcore Roguelike people test it out and am I glad I did, in hindsight, some things are so obvious that I wonder what I was thinking. So in a not too distant future, the game will propose a better experience, hopefully really neat and easy to use and understand user interface, which was my main goal from the start.

If you want to follow the development, just continue to follow the Blog here.

ps. for all of you backing the game (you will not be billed) a big Thank You! I’m keeping your kickstarter addresses and I’ll send you a ping when the game goes up on Kickstarter again.

Kickstarter finally LIVE!

Hello Indie Game Lovers!
After a lot of hassle, my pledge on Kickstarter is finally live!!

Check it out here:

What? Why am I doing a Kickstarter for a game that’s already in the making?
It’s all about looks actually (well almost).

You can check out my official Kickstarter video here
or check out one of the Alpha playthroughs: Spazz Does Gaming or Phail_Munsta
And there you’ll see the graphics, which are, kind of amateurish sometimes.

So I’m doing this Crowd Funding to fix exactly that, beautiful graphics are expensive!

Also there are no musics in the game yet, I’d love not having to use some free old classic music for everything but some new exclusive exciting stuff for the game, music that fits to the theme, music that was created for this special ambience, so that’s the second part of the main goal!

So please think about donating some bucks or buy access to the game (DRM free or Steam) and one of the extras!
Obviously, if you want to retweet my initial Kickstarter tweet, I’d be all so happy too!

Desura Bankruptcy

Hi everybody!

I was selected for Desuras Alpha Funding last month, sweet eh!

So I’ve been working full time on networking, banners, presskit, honing details etcetera etcetera the last weeks.
I also decided to try to give it an edge so I subscribet to a banner publicity program at Who’s Gaming Now.
I sent them the banner yesterday because Desura will start selling my game Wednesday!
The mail came back asking this:

So are you sure you want to point it to the Desura page?
With all the news around the problems with Desura/Bad Juju parent company etc, I wanted to just ask before I just link the banner there

After a quick search, it seems they doesn’t pay developers any more and that their owners (Bad Juju) are filing for bankruptcy and even that they will scrap Desura completely…
That’s the explanation why my 2 contacts mails insta-bounced this morning…

Soooo, first things first:

A big thanks to Who’s Gaming Now for alerting me!

Secondly, I now have to rebuild my marketing (master) plans which might (or not, gotta think this over) include a small Kickstarter! I had it planned a bit but the Desura Alpha Funding seemed a better choice at the moment.

Well, I have always wanted to do a Kickstarter, so I’ll mourn a bit, hmmm, okay that’s done, lets start planning!

See you tomorrow, hopefully with some new plans!

Desura has put my game in their Alphafunding program!

The weeks are just getting crazier, first I got greenlit and then, some days ago I got a hand crafted mail from Desura, it started with:

Congratulations!! Your title has been accepted to our Alphafunding program.

There are only a couple of slots for each launch and a Family of Grave Diggers got one of them!!

we have you officially scheduled in our Launch Calendar. On June 17th 2015 at 6am Pacific Daylight Time your game will GO LIVE.

Holy bandola, one month from now! The mail continues with:

In the meantime, you really need to prepare like crazy.

You bet, so huh yeah, lets get this rolling!

A Family of Grave Diggers has been Greenlit!

That really came as a surprise, I thought I still needed some time but there it is, in the mail:

“Your title, “a Family of Grave Diggers”, have been Greenlit!”

Now I’m going to focus much more of my efforts on developing the game (Alpha 0.074 today) and hopefully I’m going full Beta before the summer is here.

I’m also going to spend time on my (this!) blog and on Steam, sharing more about how the development goes forward (or sometimes backwards even if it doesn’t happen so much any more).

I did it!

FOGD Greenlit!

a Family of Grave Diggers now on early access!!

Thanks to:
Draul, Drastic, Groupees , WhosGamingNow,
my Alpha is now in a charity bundle!!

You can get a DRM-Free early access for as low a 3$!

Steam keys will be delivered too when the game is getting Greenlit, which seems to be quite probable as my greenlight went from 25% to over 50 just in a couple of hours.

So don’t miss this unique opportunity
to check out an Alpha of a Family of Grave Diggers!

Two Crazy Weeks!

Whoah, my significant other got a job, kids on vacation, I spend 1h to take them to kindergarten every morning and around fifty minutes to fetch them, add crunch time at work and you get 0% progress on the game!

This is now officially over (the crunch time and all that, not the game!) so development is going to advance again!

Secondly, I got contacted by Whos Gaming Now !!

This is huge huge news!!

Cheers every one and thanks for following me, going back to coding!
